NT China 2008 has been specifically designed for students to sample the Chinese culture, cuisine, and history. School activities and programs in Kunming will be organized and set up by New Trier High School and Anning High School which has exchange programs with many countries. One weekend home-stay is included. The program highlights the pinnacle of China's achievements in the grandeur of its palaces, the grand scale of the Great Wall, the culture diversity of the multi ethnic groups , classical gardens, and the modernity of its major metropolises. Participants will visit the mountains and rice terraces of Southern China, and the world famous Suzhou, its silk factory and Embroidery Institute where they can witness the ancient craft of embroidery performed by skillful Chinese artists. Finally they will tour the very modern and traditional city of Shanghai, with many skyscrapers, traditional Chinese architecture, museums, and landmarks.
