ACADEMICS AND ELIGIBILITY |
|
“Your
academics . . .that is why you are here!
There are two passing grades, A and B, and three stages of
deficiency, C, D and F. Do
not blow the opportunity to become academically strong.
The New Trier Experience will provide you with the tools you will
need to help you get up the ladder of life.
It will help you to become a motivated person.” It goes without saying that just maintaining eligibility is not an acceptable academic goal. The foundation of the New Trier High School Boy's Swimming and Diving TEAM is excellence! EXCELLENCE is not a part time endeavor. It is each athlete's responsibility to strive for excellence in all pursuits. In order to maintain athletic eligibility, a student must
pass 2.0 credits per week. Each major course counts as 1/2 credit. Each minor course counts as 1/4 credit. The number of courses you take and the hours they meet each
week are not the basis for eligibility.
It is the amount of credit given for each course. You must also have passed 2.0 credits of high school work the
previous semester to be eligible the ensuing semester. If an athlete is having difficulties with his studies it should be addressed immediately. HOWEVER, any practice time that would be missed addressing an academic problem MUST be cleared in advance with Coach Onstott. Call his extension (6576), from a phone at school, and leave a message. From outside the building or a pay phone in the building call 446-5505 and leave a message. Always leave a message including your FULL name and exactly WHY you will be late or absent. "Some defeats are only installments to victory." |
