ATTENDANCE and AWARD POLICY

Attendance is required by all TEAM members at all scheduled practices for the athlete’s assigned practice group. If the athlete cannot attend practice for any reason a call (preferred method) or email in advance of the practice is required.  If an athlete misses a practice without notification, no matter the circumstance, they may be held out of participation in the next scheduled competition.  Upon the second non-notification the athlete may be removed from the TEAM. Absences of convenience are not acceptable. Such absences can cause an athlete to be held out of competition and a pattern of such absences can cause an athlete to be removed from the TEAM. Athletes are expected to be available for participation in all meets.  Due to the large number of athletes and the various levels of meets they will not compete in all meets. Lineups will be posted as early as possible. If you have a question about a specific meet please ask Coach O.

Green Cards (KW Exemption) are available to junior and senior athletes who have earned an athletic award in swimming and diving for at least one year previous to the exemption year.  Those who do not qualify for the KW exemption at the start of the season may earn it by having 90% attendance at assigned practices and meets for a period of time determined by the coaching staff. The 90% attendance would be determined using the same criteria as the regular attendance policy.

Freshman Numerals- The freshman TEAM member must be present at 85% of the freshman practice groups practices and meets* throughout the season.

Sophomore Letter- The sophomore TEAM member practicing at either JV practice must be present at 90% of their practice groups practices and meets* throughout the season.

Junior Varsity Letter-The junior or senior TEAM member practicing at either JV practice must be present at 90% of their practice groups practices and meets* throughout the season.

Varsity Letter- Any TEAM member who by participation in the varsity practice group and/or participation in varsity level meets and is present at 90% of there practice groups practices and meets* throughout the season.  Seniors who have earned at least a junior varsity  letter and are present at 90% of their practice groups practices and meets* throughout the season MAY be awarded a varsity letter.

The percent used is a raw percentage and includes all practices and meets* except those missed for medical reasons with appropriate documentation.

To be considered for the position of TEAM Captain a swimmer or diver must have earned an award during the two seasons (sophomore and junior) proceeding their senior year.

*meets where the athlete is not in the lineup will not count against the athlete.
